Clubbing in the UK has been around since the early 1980's. It then migrated into the late 1980's and early 1990's when the rave scene was born. The rave scene opened up a whole new spectrum of people who were free to express their mind's and opinions in the form of rave music. During the early 1990's some of the biggest names in clubbing history were born - Ministry of Sound opened their first nightclub in London in September 1991 and now possess one of the biggest followings in clubbing music. They boasted of top class DJ's such as Boy George, Tall Pall, Dave Pearce, Paul Van Dyk and Pete Tong. Ministry of sound music and DJ's are still going strong today with nightclubs all over the world. Once clubbing had become more popular with the main stream public, more big-name nightclubs were launched including Cream (launched in October 1992) and many others.

Films which were launched worldwide, in the late 1990's also put clubbing further on the map. Human Traffic was one of the most popular films of the 1990's and told the story of 6 friends, and a regular night clubbing in Cardiff. Some parts of the film were shot, through the eyes of the characters themselves, and how the clubbing music and atmosphere was effecting them.

It is without a doubt that Ibiza is the clubbing capital of the world with over 2 million people attracted to the island every year, to see their latest DJ's playing in some of the worlds best nightclubs - Manumission, Pacha, Eden and Amnesia are just a few of the big super clubs which Ibiza has to boast. With clubbing holidays becoming more popular every year for groups of friends (usually aged between 18-30) and the majority of them travelling to the clubbing capital of the world, there is no two ways about it, the clubbing phenomenon is here to stay.
